i don't think so. printed books won't be abandoned in such a short time. i admit that new technology is developing fast.

many advanced electronic products are gradually take the place of traditional tools. just like in university, teachers like to use multimedia in class for it is quite convenient and efficient. however, for our student, it is not realistic to study completely by electronic products.

there are many things need to recorded on books. books are something meaningful and practical. i should say, in our country, printed books wouldn't be abandoned within 20 years at least for two reasons.

firstly, books are classical container of knowledge. they accompany human to advance. a student without books could be someway ridiculous.

secondly, our country haven't developed so strong to make every student study by computer or other forms of electronic tools. and even after 20 years, the possibility is also very small.

i also think it is unnecessary because books are cheap but useful and still meaningful.

in that faraway village, small mountain village ... ..." ears suddenly echoed the" mother's kiss" this song, my heart cannot calm, reminds me of the great maternal love.

a mother's love is like a tired work well, when you are weak and feeble, a few bites refreshed; motherly love like helpless when hands, when you don't know what to do, just hold on its difficulties will be smoothly done or easily solved; maternal love as the sun in winter, when you cold despair, as long as bathed in the warmth of love, all the disappear in smoke in a moment. a mother's love is like a pastoral poem, remote, pure, and elegant light; a

mother's love is like a deep love song, melodious, lead a person to endless aftertastes; motherly love is like a landscape painting, quiet and beautiful, tranquil and elegant. the maternal love is a growing yanyinqipan children; maternal love is concerned about their children before bed anxious; motherly love is drifting continuously miss the earth children; maternal love is the sons and daughters of life concomitant joke.

over the past spring festival, i got involved in a family dispute. right before i got home, four satellite channels of cctv were added to the 14 channels we had already had. in prime time at night, they all had interesting shows. therefore, the five of us-my parents, my sisters and i-had to argue over what to watch. finally, we agreed that we should watch the "most interesting" program... if wecould agree what that was.

however, all of us there remember that for a long time after we had tv, there were only one or two channels available. the increase in options reveals an important change in our life: the abundance of choice.

fifteen years ago we all dressed in one style and in one color. today, we select from a wide variety of designs and shades.

fifteen years ago, we read few newspapers. today, we read english

newspapers like the china daily and the 21st century, as well as various chinese newspapers.

fifteen years ago, english majors took only courses in language and literature. today, we also study western culture, journalism, business communications, international relations, and computer science.

the emergence of choices marks the beginning of a new era in china"s history; an era of diversity, of material and cultural richness, and an era of the rebirth of the chinese nation.

we enjoy the abundance of choice. but this has not come easily.

about 150 years ago, china was forced to open up its door by western canons and gunboats. it has been through the struggle and sacrifice of generations that we finally have gained the opportunity to choose for ourselves. the policy of reform and openness is the choice that has made all the difference.

like others of my age, i"m too young to have experienced the time when the chinese people had no right to choose. however, as the next century draws near, it is time to ask: what does choice really mean to us young people?

is choice a game that relies on chance or luck? is choice an empty promise that never materializes? or is choice a puzzle so difficult that we have to avoid it?

first, i would like to say: to choose means to claim opportunities. i am a third-year english major. an important choice for me, of course, is what to do upon graduation. i can go to graduate school, at home or abroad. i can go to work as a teacher, a translator, a journalist, an editor and a diplomat. actually, the system of mutual selection has allowed me to approach almost every career opportunity in china.

indeed, this is not going to be an easy choice. i would love to work in such big cities as beijing or shanghai or shenzhen. i would also love to return to my hometown, which is intimate, though slightly lagging in development. i would love to stay in the coastal area where life is exciting and fast-paced. i would also love to put down roots in central and western china, which is underdeveloped, but holdsgreat potential.

all of these sound good. but they are only possibilities. to those of us who are bewildered at the abundance of opportunities, i would like to say: to choose means to accept challenge.

to us young people, challenge often emerges in the form of competition. in the next century, competition will not only come from other college graduates, but also from people of all ages and of all origins. with increasing international exchanges, we have to face growing competition from the whole outside world. this is calling for a higher level of our personal development.

fifteen years ago, the knowledge of a foreign language or of computer operation was considered merely an advantage. but today, with wider educational opportunities, this same knowledge has become essential to everyone.

given this situation, even our smallest choices will require great wisdom and personal determination.

as we gain more initiative in choice making, the consequence of each choice also becomes more important.

as we gain more initiative in choice making, the consequence of each choice also becomes more important.

nuclear power, for instance, may improve our quality of life. but it can also be used to damage the lives and possessions of millions.

economic development has enriched our lives but brought with it serious harm to our air, water and health.

to those of us who are blind to the consequences of their choices, i would like to say, to choose means to take responsibility. when we are making choices for ourselves, we cannot casually say: "it"s just my own business. " as policy makers of the next century, we cannot fail to see our responsibility to those who share the earth with us.

the traditional chinese culture teaches us to study hard and work hard so as to honor our family. to me, however, this family is not just the five of us who quarreled over television programs. rather, it is the whole of the human family. as i am making my choices, i will not forget the smile of my teacher when i correctly spelled out the word "china" for the first time, i will not forget the happy faces of the boys and girls we helped to send back to school in the mountains of jiangxi province. i will not forget the tearful eyes of women and children in bosnia, chechnya and somali, where millions are suffering from war, famine or poverty. all these people, known and unknown, make up our big human family. at different points, they came into my life and broaden my perspective. now as i am to make choices for myself, it is time to make efforts to improve their lives, because a world will benefit us all only if every one in it

can lead a peaceful and prosperous life.

in june, the flowers in full bloom season; in june, and the wind blowing the buddha, the sun is shining; in june, is also our festival; on this day, our school held a large festival performances.

with the wonderful music, the curtain slowly rising, festival show began. you see! on both sides of the stage, slowly out of the pairs of girl wear kimonos, all is their dance, like a little flower in the wind, graceful; when the music becomes the high intense, they swing the waist, opened the ideologues floret umbrella, like a little mushroom in the rain, the dizzying. oh! they are a little (a) class of performance. is really wonderful! when the lights suddenly became dark, speed up the pace of music, a beam of red light in the middle of the table, a the grass skirt, with countless tails girl, with music and dancing. oh! she in african dance!

the festival performances, from grade school, every class of performance are selected, many class can only choose a, and our class is very lucky, selected the two programs. "saxophone ensemble" and the "latin". my favorite is my piano recital, selected by the school but did not, though in the best, only got a silver medal. since the two selected, the teacher every day with our rehearsals, one of the most hard is jump latin dance, before we haven't learned a few people, is only temporary, please classmates to tutoring. although in practice some classmates repeatedly, and made great changes, through the joint efforts of everyone, insisted on down.

the next program to play in our class, i saw countless flashing light from the flash, like with a rabbit in my heart, "beat" straight jump, however, still keep a smile on his face, i said to myself: there are many teachers and parents looking at me, i can't make a fool of yourself! hence, music sounded, i try to set up her skirt, try to do the best gestures, leave the most beautiful dance to the audience the audience. a round of applause ended our performance, we are easy to step down after the audience with a bow, suddenly found that my mouth smile went numb...

i like the festival very much, because she can give each of us the opportunity to show their most beautiful style and individual talent, at the same time, can also learn about to so many classmates, have their skills, perhaps, this is what people often say: we are the future of our motherland...

good afternoon ladies and gentlemen,

i believe that humanism is about kindness and caring for people in need.

i believe the role of humanism in today's technological world is to guide technological development to respond to human need in a benevolent way.

in __ i was in yushu during that terrible earthquake.i experienced the full horror of buildings falling and people being trapped.i witnessed the quick response from modern technology when people inside yushu called people outside for help with their mobile phones.very soon the whole world was responding whole heartedly.after only 5 hours, there was another sound- this time it was helicopters bringing doctors, medical supplies, and the facilities to evacuate the wounded to hospital.

recent advances in earthquake detection and rescue technology have been developed in response to the need to save lives quickly.

consider advances in green food technology, guided by the need for clean natural food and to protect the environment;advances in water conservation and purification, guided by the need for clean drinking water and for crops and livestock;advances in delivering education to everyone, especially the use of video and the internet for distance learning;advances in medicine, especially affordable medicine for aids sufferers in africa;and advances in building technology guided by the need to keep people safe and warm.

all these are the result of responding to human needs with kindness and caring and guiding technology for the benefit of mankind.

when i think about the world of advanced technology today,i think of my home, the remote and harsh environment of the tibetan plateau, and farmers living in tents with solar energy that they use to power their lights,tv,computers and to improve their lifestyle.i think of farmers talking on their mobile phones, discussing the weather patterns, the cost of food, community news and events.they even talk about steve jobs.the train to lhasa, itself a wonderful engineering feat, brings modern medicine and education to these remote areas.the communities are now interlinked and connected, one of the most basic human needs.

human beings have a need to be connected,to be safe to be cared for in times of trouble and hardship.

the development of technology must be guided by these needs.if this is not so,then the development of technology is in the hands of mean and, greedy people.the focus of technological development would be wars and weapons, fraud the misuse of information, and the exploitation of people, such as cheap labor.

it can only be humanism which provides the guidance we all need for a better world.

and it is you,who have the responsibility to use the technology wisely,to spread the kindness and caring.

ladies and gentlemen:

it is a great honor for me to talk about the topic with you all, my dear friends!

as you all know, there is a flinty problem that many many fresh graduates can not find their jobs today. what is worse, it seems that we have few ways to sovle it. probably, some others would argue that why not let our ya go abroad since there are so many chances there? on second thoughts, should our government propose that we youth go abroad for job hunting? my answer is absolutely “ no”!

just think, my friends, why somebody suggest our fresh graduates go abroad? are our markets for job seekers really saturated ? are there really bags of jobs waiting for the jobless abroad? can the migration really put the axe in the helve? it is unlikely, in my opinion.

in some degree, it is a illusion thinking that there have been dead-alive on the labor market home. so many graduates say they can not find their jobs, so many parents worry about their young ones’ future, so many companies close the doors for job seeking…… how it just be a illusion ? do i have a bee in my head?

first ,we should make it clear that what kind of jobs that our graduates want to take, and where they want to work? it goes without saying, only jobs providing high salary in big cities, for instance beijing, can satisfy them. unfortunately ,that kind of jobs are limited. therefore, it is not that our graduates can not find jobs but that they can not find the fictive jobs , as a matter of fact. no matter how flourish and how actively a city is, it can provide numbered positions for the job seekers. what they want is perfect, but what they can gain in the end is another pair of shoes.

in fact, in the country, in the undeveloped places, more and more persons with ability are needed. however, there are no theatres, there are no cafes, there are no kfc, and there are supermarkets… as a result, no body like to work there. as we all know, developed countriess usually have the same problem that large numbers of person lost their work, which is even serious than china. millions of people pageant nearly every day, speaking for a piece of work. so what we can do after we get there? how can we support ourselves?

not all emigrants live a happy life, in fact, most of them worry about their life from time to time. digesting the culture seems always difficult, the salary stays at a low level, and the miss to their motherland always follows…

how about the developing country? are there more jobs, higher wages and comfortable life? i am sorry ,the answer is still “no”! plumply speaking, many developing counties are disordered. you can not prosuppose when the terrorists may attack you, when the epidemic may come and how can you make a living?

now you can see, as i refered to, foreign countries are not the paradise, at least, to most of the people having gone abroad. in this case, why we still suggest our graduates go overseas? in addition, will that really be good for our country after number of fresh graduates entering overseas for their job seeking?

as the matter of our family planning policy, the aged will become more and more, which is leading to a reasonably unfavourable situation. it is said that we will not have enough work force in future. please project yourself in that case, once it comes true, what will it happen? factories is short of workers, hospitals lack doctors, offices are pressed for missionaries…… now you can imagine, my dear friends, how terrible it is!

dear teacher and classmates:

i am very glad to make a speech here in this class again! this time, id like to talk something about english.

i love english. english language is now used everywhere in the world. it has become the most common language on internet and for international trade. learning english makes me confident and brings me great pleasure.

when i was seven, my mother sent me to an english school. at there, i played games and sang english songs with other children 。 then i discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colorful dream in the english world.

everyday, i read english following the tapes. sometimes, i watch english cartoons.

on the weekend, i often go to the english corner. by talking with different people there, i have made more and more friends as well as improved my oral english.

i hope i can travel around the world someday. i want to go to america to visit washington monument, because the president washington is my idol. of course, i want to go to london too, because england is where english language developed. if i can ride my bike in cambridge university, i will be very happy.

i hope i can speak english with everyone in the world. ill introduce china to them, such as the great wall, the forbidden city and anshan.

i know, rome was not built in a day. i believe that after continuous hard study, one day i can speak english very well.

if you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. so i believe as i love english everyday , it will love me too.

every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. my friends will listen to me when i want to speak, will wipe my eyes when i cry, will take care of me when i am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.

as students, we could share more time with our friends. the friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. i often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. especially when i had justin as one of my best friends. justin was my english teacher from the usa. i met him in 1996 when i was a student who could only speak very little english. justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive. he taught us english by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. i could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on christmas eve. it was so interesting and unforgettable. justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study english well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others" lives. i know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts. facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. justin is the best friend i have ever had, and i know i will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. it is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it is also like a cup of tea. when we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

however, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. more and more people forget to enjoy the beauty of life and -the beauty of friendship. they work hard in order to gain a higher position, in the society and to earn more money for their work. of course, we don"t deny that it is important to find a bet-ter place in our lives, but we wish more and more people could pay a little more attention to themselves and their friends. all of us have to spare some time for personal lives. we have to find the chance to express our emotion and love. when staying with our friends, we can release ourselves completely. we can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry to-gether. i should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.

as we know, we would feel lonely if we didn"t even have a friend. but it doesn"t mean we could depend on our friends all the time. there is a famous motto saying that “a friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.” it is really true. we have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. when we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.

finally, let"s pray together now that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. let"s pray the flower of friendship be-tween our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts.
